Biggest issue for me.
Background tabs have very poor legibility for title White writing on a pale background?
can i fix this somehow or is just a beta thing that will likely change?
I turned off ‘show colour in tab bar’ as this made things even worse.
That looks like a bug… try force closing Safari, because the text should be black when in light mode. At least, that’s how mine is currently.

This is actually happening when dark mode is turned on!
In light mode it displays correctly with black writing.
The odd thing, just bought an iPad Mini and that does the same as well.
No backup restore used, but same Apple ID and a few apps.

Very odd.

I haven’t come across a website I can’t use on my iPad, but this thread did just make me realise that I’ve had the setting to always request the desktop site turned on and not realised it 😀 Unless that’s the default now.

I also get the reverse - see below. There is wild variability in what color shows up where.

What I really don't like on this beta is it's extremely hard for me to see the current open tab VS the others. In iPadOS 18 and below, it's very clear and easy to see the current open tab. I generally like the new iPadOS 26 design but Safari is the exception. I think it look worse than before and it affect the usability as well.

For these “glass” effects, it would be good if Apple made them on a scaling slider. In some areas it looks good. Other areas it seriously is a detriment.

I agree. I'm sort of surprised Apple didn't anticipate this. Liquid glass is definitely a hit and miss for me.

I find the tab situation varies upon the background of the site you’re on. On Macrumors I’ve set the site to its dark mode and the tabs, including the open one with that bright “x”, are very legible.
